Background
Weland oversees the company’s largest water operation, which serves nearly a million residents and includes a distribution system consisting of over 2,200 miles of water mains and a 113 square-mile watershed.
Weland, who joined SUEZ in 2000, brings significant operations experience and proven senior managerial capability to his new role. He led operations for the company’s New York water utility from 2009 to 2013 before being appointed Director of Corporate Engineering to manage the capital program for 70 municipal water and wastewater service contracts in the United States. Since 2017, he has served as General Manager in Nassau County, NY, a wastewater services agreement that is the country’s largest public-private partnership contract.
Weland holds a M.E. in Environmental Engineering and a B.S in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College. He is a licensed professional engineer in New Jersey and a member of the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation.
