NJUA COVID-19 Preparedness Update
Dear NJUA Members, Associate Members and Community Partners,
The residents and businesses who call New Jersey home are in an unprecedented time. As the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic become more widespread, we must recognize the value now more than ever of the essential services NJUA member utilities provide.
The New Jersey Utilities Association and its 13 member companies continue to closely monitor this rapidly evolving situation. New Jersey’s investor-owned utilities work tirelessly, around the clock, to provide essential water, wastewater, electric, natural gas and telecommunications services to New Jersey residents and businesses.
NJUA and its member companies have been working in conjunction with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to implement COVID-19 preparedness plans as we make every effort to ensure we are providing continuity of essential services, and operating with the health and safety of customers and employees in mind. We are in regular communication with state officials and national regulated entities to ensure best practices are being implemented across utilities.
In an effort to provide New Jersey residents with essential utility services during the COVID-19 pandemic, NJUA member companies have suspended shut-offs of electric, gas and water service at this time.NJUA member companies continue to follow guidance issued by the Governor’s Office, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, OSHA and all appropriate state and federal agencies.
We will adjust plans as necessary to support employees and protect the customers and communities we serve. Moving forward, we will continue to provide information relevant to your companies, partners and constituents, as appropriate.
Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Thomas R. Churchelow, Esq.
President
New Jersey Utilities Association
