WALL - New Jersey Natural Gas will hold its annual Energy Assistance Days in September and October to help customers across Monmouth, Ocean and Morris counties apply for grants and programs to manage their utility bills ahead of the heating season.

The in-person events connect customers with NJNG representatives and local community agencies to determine eligibility and complete applications for financial assistance. Customers behind on their bills may also qualify for payment arrangements.

“Energy Assistance Days are designed to meet customers where they are,” said Maria Delaplain, NJNG’s manager of customer outreach. “By attending an event, customers can meet in person with our team to explore programs that best meet their household needs. There are a wide range of programs available for households of various income levels. For example, a family of four with an annual income of $153,514 may qualify.”

Programs available include the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the Universal Service Fund (USF) and Fresh Start Program, the state Board of Public Utilities’ Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric (PAGE), NJ SHARES grants, the Lifeline Credit Program, Comfort Partners and NJNG’s Gift of Warmth.

Bilingual representatives will be on hand at each event to assist customers through the process. To apply, attendees should bring identification, proof of residence, recent natural gas and electricity bills, and proof of income for all household members over age 18.

Income-eligible customers may also qualify for no-cost weatherization programs through Comfort Partners or NJNG to help lower energy usage and monthly bills.

For more information and a full schedule of events, visit njng.com/energyassistance or call 800-221-0051 and say “energy assistance” at the prompt.
