Getting to Know: Wendy Stewart

Wendy Stewart is Atlantic City Sewerage Company's president and general manager. She was profiled for the 2025 second quarter edition of the NJUA member newsletter.

Please tell us about your position.

I stepped into the position of President during the COVID-19 pandemic, after spending 14 years with ACSC in a financial capacity. I have really enjoyed getting involved in all aspects of the business and I have learned so much over the last five years. For the first 14 years I saw all of the important work that happens in the administration areas, but I am now seeing firsthand the equally important work that happens in operations and that has been exciting for me. I love seeing the bigger picture, and how all of the pieces fit together.

How did you get into this field?

I was looking for a change from the industry I had been working in previously (casino) and I took a chance on the interview. Working for a public utility had not been an aspiration of mine, but ACSC sounded like a great company and the position sounded both interesting and challenging. I have enjoyed the challenges and opportunities that this industry has provided. The utility industry plays an important role in people’s lives and I am so happy to be a part of it.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

I am most proud of raising my two sons. I am so proud of the amazing young men they have become and I am excited to watch them continue to grow, both personally and professionally.

Where did you grow up?

I am a lifelong resident of New Jersey. I grew up in Wyckoff, in Bergen County. I relocated with my husband and children to Galloway, just outside of Atlantic City in December 1999. (Y2K anyone?) South Jersey is much different from where I grew up, but I love the life I have built down here.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

ACSC has many important projects in progress and I look forward to getting them all to completion. On a more personal note, I look forward to hopefully testing for my green belt in Tae Kwon Do at the end of the year.

How do you relax?

I like to read and do handicrafts such as cross stitch and crocheting, but mostly I enjoy spending time with my sons and my dog, Charlie.

Favorite Jersey performer?

Joe Pesci is one of my favorite actors and My Cousin Vinny is one of my favorite movies!

Where can you be found on social media?

When my kids were younger, I really felt like I needed to know what was going on so I have accounts on Instagram, Facebook, X, Snapchat and Reddit, as well as LinkedIn.
