CAMDEN — Three New Jersey nonprofit organizations have been awarded a combined $75,000 from the American Water Charitable Foundation to support career readiness, youth development, and life skills training programs.

The grants are part of the foundation’s Workforce Readiness initiative, a component of its Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which focuses on water, people, and communities.

“We are thrilled to support initiatives that provide access to high-quality training and skills development for future leaders in the workplace,” said Carrie Williams, president of the American Water Charitable Foundation.

The recipients are:

  • Center for Family Services Inc. — $25,000 to expand its Amplifying Workforce Opportunities for Camden City Residents program, providing occupational training, industry-recognized credentials, employment fairs, and workshops focused on job readiness, financial literacy, and digital skills.

  • Free All Minds Academy — $25,000 for its School 2 Prosperity Pipeline, a four-year mentorship and career exposure program for Camden youth, addressing a critical funding gap for year-round support.

  • Family Connections Inc. — $25,000 to grow its Pathways to Possibility program, which offers job-readiness training, career exploration, and mental health services, with outreach to LGBTQIA+ and marginalized youth.

Mark McDonough, president of New Jersey American Water and a foundation trustee, said the grants reflect the company’s commitment to investing in people and their potential. “This year’s grantees are creating meaningful change, empowering youth, expanding access to workforce training, and building stronger communities,” McDonough said.

The American Water Charitable Foundation is funded by American Water shareholders and has invested more than $20 million in communities served by the utility since 2012.

American Water, based in Camden, is the largest regulated water and wastewater utility in the U.S., serving more than 14 million people in 14 states. New Jersey American Water, its state subsidiary, serves about 2.9 million residents.
