NJUA Conference Policies & Code of Conduct

NJUA is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants and NJUA staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, NJUA staff members, service providers and all others are expected to abide by the following policies and code of conduct.

Personal Information

As part of your event registration personal contact data such as name, address, and email were collected and may be used by NJUA and approved third parties. The New Jersy Utilities Association (NJUA) Privacy Policy outlines its commitment to protecting user privacy, including compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Visit njua.com/privacy-policy for additional information. NJUA will take appropriate measures to ensure the security of its information systems and the data collected during the event and expects all participants to use NJUA’s digital resources responsibly and in accordance with applicable policies. As a reminder, by allowing your badge to be scanned for lead retrieval, you are providing your full contact information (address, email, phone, etc.) to the exhibitors.

Photography & Information Release

By registering for this event, conference participants agree to allow NJUA to use their likeness in any NJUA-related production or publication, including, but not limited to, emails, social media posts, printed materials, videos, and websites. Additionally, participants agree to receive show-related and promotional emails from conference hosts and sponsors directly or through a third-party distributor. At no time, however, will attendees’ email addresses be sold or otherwise directly disclosed to exhibitors or conference vendors.

Social Media, Camera, and Cell Phones

NJUA encourages the use of social media during our conferences and events. Filming or live streaming of any presentation, session or exhibit hall booth is prohibited without the permission of the presenter or exhibitor. Violation may result in confiscation of the media and removal from the event. This policy is intended to protect the intellectual property and hard work of both our presenters and exhibitors. NJUA’s conference proceedings will contain all presentations and additional materials provided by the presenters who wish to have their information published. Attendees are asked to be respectful of their colleagues by silencing all mobile devices before entering meeting rooms.

Fair and Honest Business Practices

We are committed to conducting business affairs with integrity and in accordance with the highest standards of business ethics. We believe in the dignity and safety of workers producing goods and services for the water industry; the use of environmentally responsible processes to produce those goods and services; and the highest legal, moral, and ethical standards of conduct in the business of delivering those goods and services to end users. Participants must comply with all applicable laws and regulations and must not engage in any activities that could harm organizational interests, such as making false or misleading statements about NJUA, its partners, or its programs. Participants must respect and protect NJUA’s assets, including intellectual property, equipment, and facilities, and must use them only for their intended purposes.

Professional Program Disclaimer

While NJUA has taken care to ensure the qualifications of speakers, presenters, and moderators at this conference, the opinions, comments, and other views made by a participant in his/her presentation(s) are not necessarily those of NJUA nor its officers, directors, planning committee, or staff. Participants must respect the confidentiality of any information shared during the conference, including presentations, discussions, and networking conversations, and refrain from disclosing or misusing such information.

Discrimination or Harassment

NJUA has zero-tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including, but not limited to verbal, physical, or sexual harassment, discrimination, and intimidation. All participants are expected to treat each other with respect and dignity, and refrain from engaging in any behavior that could be considered harassing or bullying. This includes refraining from making derogatory comments, using offensive language, or engaging in unwanted physical contact. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, including jokes and innuendo. NJUA prohibits retaliation against any NJUA staff, volunteer, member, conference participants, or other person for making a complaint under NJUA policy or for assisting in a complaint investigation.

Health & Safety of Attendees

NJUA’s first core principle is the protection of public health. This principle will continue to guide our conference environments now and in the future. NJUA will observe safety measures based on information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local facilities. NJUA is currently planning for the following health and safety measures at all NJUA conferences:
